Norwich Castle staff
Norwich Castle staff chose to add a KeepGiving pin badge and a King Charles III £1 coin to the time capsule.
Our time capsule contribution
A small pin-badge from our public fundraising campaign for the Keep Project: KeepGiving. (There were 6 designs, developed to spark interest and get people talking: King of the Castle, Queen of the Castle, Dirty Rascal, the KeepGiving logo, and two 'I Heart Norwich Castle' designs. These items represent the ways in which we have involved people in this project right from the beginning: as visitors, volunteers, donors, advocates, and in countless other ways. Needless to say, Dirty Rascal was the most popular design!)
A coin is familiar to the vast majority of people - adults and children alike. It's an important everyday item which can represent earnings, a gift, a metal-detector find or something else. Visitors love to look at the old coins on display in the museum, I regularly get asked where the coins are kept. Coins contain information such as who was on the throne at a specific time - and metal detectorists think their searches are not complete until an old coin turns up!
