New Routes chose to add a handcrafted home to the time capsule.
Our time capsule contribution
New Routes welcomes sanctuary seekers into Norwich life; asylum seekers, refugees, and isolated migrants. We aim to reduce loneliness, and skills gaps, whilst increasing wellbeing, and giving practical and social support. We provide weekly activities: educational classes (English language, volunteering, employability), mentoring, sports, culture sharing, and advice.
New Routes coordinates annual 'Refugees of Norwich' celebrations. Last year's theme was 'home'. Over 55+ events local organisations, services, schools/universities, museums, libraries, businesses, parks, and individuals upheld migrants' lived experiences/ stories, creativity, contributions, resilience, and humanity.
A group art show at Anteros Gallery included our symbolic city of 'dream homes', plus mosaics, and children's art. Our time-capsule artifact combines all of these!
