Prisoner of War auctioneer's gavel

Small wooden gavel engraved 'OFLAGVIB/1942/GERMANY'; presented by Captain T.M. Wilkin, late Royal Norfolk Regiment, 7th Battalion, who used it to auction token horses at a horse race organised in the British POW camp OFLAG VI B, Germany, at Christmas 1942. The race course was laid out in the Camp Dining Hall and the horses were moved by the throwing of a dice; the gavel was carved by Captain W. Thompson, RASC, using a razor blade
