India General Service Medal issues to Water Carrier Sajwal Khan, 1st Bn Norfolk Regiment.with the North West Frontier Clasp 1936-37.Kahn was a native Indian Water Carrier, employed by the 1st Bn Royal Norfolk Regiment, and scarce for a British County Regiment. Ther period of service for governed bt the North West Frontier 1936-37 Clasp covers the dates 24th November 1936-16th/17th January 1937, and 16th/17th January 1937-15/16th December 1937. The India General Service Medal 1936-39, was institutes on 3rd August 1938, and replaced the Indian General Service Medal of 1908, and as issued for King Edward VII and then King George V in 1935. His medal was issued by the Calcutta, India, mint and with the wider flan; also without the designers' initials on the obverse, also with a different type of claw. The reverse of the medal was said to have a somewhat crudely designed 'India Tiger'.
