Description
Antique ceramic ball shaped match striker and holder by Macintyre & Co, Burslem, England. The ball has stippled brown clay on the outside which acts as the match striker, the bowl inside where the matches sat is a cream porcelain and there is a silver rim to the bowl. On the front of the item is a cream ceramic crest with the Norfolk Regiment crest transfer on. The main part of the outside of the ball is a stippled brown ceramic which matches could be struck against, the inside is a smooth porcelain bowl, this bowl has a ridged ceramic rim. Stuck to the front of the stricker is a smooth, cream coloured, porcelain shield that has a version of the Norfolk Regiment badge on it and under the Britannia a banner saying The Norfolk Regiment.
