Description

Letter to (Capt.T.C.Eaton?) 11.10.54, written on behalf of Mrs G.J.Boweren, asking for help in substantiating her claim to a share in the forthcoming distribution of funds to Far Eastern POWs. This is being disputed as her son Pte Charles William Clarke, 2031483, the Royal Norfok Regt. has not appeared in any casualty or POW list, although it has been heard from two men who knew him that he was among prisoners on Singapore Racecourse and died of fever a few weeks later, part of a collection of one photograph and two negatives of the grave of Pte F.J. Snelling, and nine letters from relatives to Capt Eaton with replies from the War Office relating to the locations of the graves of Royal Norfolk Regiment soldiers, part of a collection of documents collected by Capt Thomas C. Eaton, Royal Norfolk Regiment, 4th Battalion, T.A., 1936-1950, relating to his Territorial Army service and to his captivity as a Far East Prisoner of War, 1942-1945
