Typewritten account headed 8 The Courtyard, Walpole Court, Puddletown, Dorset, DT2 8TH, Tel: 01 305 848146, addressed to "Dear Tom", and signed almost illegibly " .... Sheepshanks (?)", thanking him (Tom) for his typescript describing what happened to him in Singapore, then going on with a detailed account of the escape attempt he (Sheepshanks) led from Singapore with a large party of men, immediately after the surrender, getting as far as Sumatra, only to be captured by a Japanese naval vessel as they set sail for Ceylon. They were returned to Singapore and Changi Gaol. part of a collection of documents collected by Capt Thomas C. Eaton, Royal Norfolk Regiment, 4th Battalion, T.A., 1936-1950, relating to his Territorial Army service and to his captivity as a Far East Prisoner of War, 1942-1945
