Daily Telegraph War Map No. 8
Accession Number NWHRM : 5108b
Description
A coloured grid 'Daily Telegraph' war map of Europe, North Africa and Russian fronts post-WWII showing the extent of Axis countries advances. It was published by Hutchinson and Co. after the war. A reference guide is located in the top left corner of the map indicating railways, canals, oil pipe lines, oil fields, steamer routes, heights in English feet, and a limit of German advance in Russia. Through colour changes, the guide also depicts international boundaries (Pre-Munich), temporary boundary changes, countries occupied by Axis powers, and countries occupied by the Allies. Underneath the reference is a scale with English miles and kilometres showing approximately 2.5 centimeters to 100 miles and 1.5 centimeters to 100 kilometres. It is in poor shape with tears along the folds and a section is completely detached from the rest of the map.
