embroidered tea cosy
Accession Number NWHRM : 3806
Description
Embroidered tea cosy featuring the Royal Norfolk Regiment crest, probably made in India. It is made from blue cotton with yellow and red stitched borders. In the centre is the badge of the Royal Norfolk Regiment - a seated figure of Britannia holding a laurel sprig and trident, accompanied by a Union Jack shield - inside a rectangular red, green and black border. Beneath it is a banner reading 'The Norfolk Regiment', above which 'IX' has been embroidered in cream thread, a reference to when the regiment was called the 9th Foot and later the 9th East Norfolk Regiment. Around this central panel is a design of spirals in multicoloured thread.
