Description
Photographic print (b/w); group photograph; men of the 7th Battalion Support Company; 1944. Support company 7th Bn The Royal Norfolk Regiment April 1944 when they were at Margate, the last place before embarking there and at Newhaven and Tilbury on the 20th June. In front of the soldiers are two of the 3 inch mortars, demounted, by which the battalion could control its own artillery.To the side are a 6 pounder anti-tank gun and its towing vehicle, a universal carrier. On 8th July these were brought into the line at Epron to defend against a possible German counter-attack. The Support Company also fielded Vickers medium machine-guns.
