This Gurkha knife called a Kukri, was brought back from Kohima. Gurkhas came from Nepal and fought with the 2nd Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment against the Japanese. Variously described as Kukri, Cookri, Kookeri, it is the national knife and principal weapon of the Gurkhas of Nepal. Following war with Britain in 1814 -16, Nepal ceded two territories but remained independent and has supplied volunteers to Gurkha Regiments serving alongside the British, and, since 1947, the Indian Armies.
