In 2013 some serving and verteran soldiers were invited to comment of various items being displayed. These were thier thoughts on the Mark II body armour.
“We don’t call it body armour, we call it body drama. It’s a drama if you need to wear it and it’s a drama because of the weight” (Chris) “Not as effective as the new “Osprey” but not as heavy either. Not sure which I prefer” (Andy) “The most annoying part of the army” (Pete) Body armour like this was worn in Northern Ireland, usually it was worn over the top of your jacket, but was sometimes worn under a jacket as this looked less aggressive. If you set foot off camp, the body armour went on. On the rear is a pocket, a metal plate slid into it to protect your back. (Paul Denny)
