Traditional leather ankle boots with separate webbing anklets are not suitable for wearing in Malaya. The hot moist jungle conditions will rot leather, and the foot inside. Anklets provide no protection for the upper calf. This jungle boot has a rubber sole with large patterned grip which will not clog with mud. The uppers are of light canvas which, though not waterproof, will soon drain. Integral canvas leggings extend up the legs for protection from plants and small anaimals. The canvas 'breathes' and dries quickly. With trousers tucked in at the top and laces tightened, the boots are mosquito-proof.
