Cabul Medal 1841-1842

Campaign medal, Cabul Medal 1841-1842; received by A. Simpson of the Norfolk Regiment, 9th Foot for service in Kabul, Afghanistan; 1842; Victoria Regina; this striking was a mistake, see Gordon p115, however this reference does not mention a scroll suspender rather than the normal stright suspender nor the significantly narrower rim. The designers name, W Wyon also appears in a different position, on the relief of Victoria rather than underneath. More research needs to be done on this medal. Kate 10.6.1992.
