Order of Medjidie

Order of Medjidie awarded to Maj.Gen. G.H. Hawes. The centre of the medal is gold and portrays the Sultan's initials, surrounded by a wide enameled band inscribed with the Turkish inscrpition Zeal, Devotion and Loyalty -1268 (1852) The medal is suspended from a red enamelled crescent star.
