Description

Deactivated Mauser pistol, carried by Lieutenant Colonel A.C. Temperley at Suvla Bay 1915 and later at the surrender of Jerusalem in 1917. Plus additional wooden butt.

Arthur Cecil Temperley joined the Norfolk Regiment in 1908 after service in the Boer War, North West Frontier and Malta. Although still an officer with the Norfok Regiment, he was employed with the New Zealand military forces and was Brigade Major of the Mediteranean Expeditionary Force, serving in Gallipoli, Egypt and France, finishing the War on the Western Front. Afterwards he was Military Attache to The Hague and War Office Military Representative to the League of Nations. He finished his career in 1935 whilst Military representative on the Permanent Advisory Committee of the League of Nations.
