Description

Mess waistcoat, c.1850, worn by Lieutenant Colonel Duncan Munro Bethune, 9th (East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot, which would become the Norfolk Regiment in 1881. Scarlet with decorative metallic piping at the pockets and opening, with heavy spherical gold beads to one side of the centre.
