2nd Bn Officers, Burma 1944

Description

A caricature of Major B. Aikens - he appears as a bull with a woman dressed as little red riding hood offering him a beer with the title "Oh Grannie, what big B.b.biceps you've got" In an album of caricatures with humourous captions depicting officers of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Norfolk Regiment whilst in Burma 1944. Drawn on white paper which is stuck into the scrapbook with a description: Major B. Aikens. A product of Hereford, Basil (The Bull) known to the troops as the Blonde B........, after serving with the Bn in Burma, became Adjutant. He was renowned for his endurance, both on the piano in the Mess, and in pursuit of the local attractions. The following morning after an ENSA show at Kamreddi; one of the artists appeared in his office with two bottles of beer and an invitation. Hence this, the original cartoon.
