Description

A caricature of Capt W. S. Gilding, he is dressed in green with a truncheon and handcuffs, he has a black arm band reading API in red and is standing under a red light, the image is called "All Coppers are..." In an album of caricatures with humourous captions depicting officers of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Norfolk Regiment whilst in Burma 1944. Drawn on white paper which is stuck into the scrapbook with the description: CAPT W.S. Gilding. Gus Gilding was commissioned in the field at Kohima from Mor Pl Sgt, to and remained Mor Pl Cmd throughout the campaign. He was also a disciple of Munchausen, which was obvious when he played Pokey Dice. He service for a short time as DAPM Bombay, hence the cartoon. "SALOME, SALOME, YOU SHOULD SEE SALOME"
