Description

Spode (?) creamware teapot and cover; cylindrical teapot with concave shoulder; double reeded-strap handle with flower terminals; unusual type of acanthus-moulded spout; cover with convolvulus knop; single row of moulded beading round base, shoulder, rim and cover; colour pale cream, glaze canary yellow, finely crazed; decorated with unfired oil-gilding; on one side with stylised flowers and leaves; on the other the inscription:- 'Margt Nichole' in an ornate cartouche; the cover shows traces of unfired brown-gold pigment)
